at first glance, this looks like a family circus review.

but it's not.

i think boy needs it for his birthday. or maybe i need it for his birthday. either way... i should probably order it.

its got nothing to do with it but...

ooh! *drool* how tantalizing. it sounds fascinating, but I can't decide from reading the customer reviews if I have enough of the right background read it without feeling frustrated (I took a fair amount of math in college, but no physics, since the undergrad physics program was purportedly not well taught). I'd be interested to hear what you think if you end up getting it.

i'll tr to remember to post a review. :)

i do know that our local barnes and nobel had Asimov's Understanding Physics (very accessibly written) on sale in the budget section. all three books in one volume for 10 bucks. if you think you might want it and can't find it, i'll be happy to see if ours still has it.

i'm going to be reading Journey Through Genius: The great theorems of mathematics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/014014739X/qid=1028946948/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-7640696-5513727), by William Dunham, soon. i borrowed it from my father-in-law's bookshelf.

and boy is currently reading Gödel, Escher, Bach: An eternal golden braid (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0465026567/qid=1028946853/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-7640696-5513727).
