| We finally got the sidecar arrangement done. Well, it's mostly done. We need to address some safety issues once he gets mobile. But for now, we've got him over there. Now I need to find someplace to keep my books, jeans, and pillows. |

Date: 2007-09-17 02:23 pm (UTC)I've thought about sidecar-ing, but no matter how we turn our bed, there isn't space. But it's no biggie--he goes between the cosleeper and the crib in his room pretty easily.

Date: 2007-09-19 12:14 am (UTC)As a non-mum, I had never heard of the sidecar concept - but it is a cool/clever way of co-sleeping without having them in the bed. Does it make getting in and out of bed harder for you? I would worry about that if it was me but then I have different constraints... ;-p

Date: 2007-09-18 10:18 pm (UTC)Another Question: did you have to raise up the crib at all?

Date: 2007-09-18 11:25 pm (UTC)With the great difference in firmness between the crib mattress and our topper, I used a twin-to-king overlay, which means we have a bit of a hump between the two. This is causing problems. I may just use a heavy quilt over the seam, instead.
(and on the far side, I cut 5-6" from a second ikea mattress to fill in the gap. it was cheaper than buying high density foam at joann's)

Date: 2007-09-18 11:40 pm (UTC)Lots of folks just use bungies, but our mattress is covered by a dust mite encasing--the tie-downs are over the encasing. Then comes our foam overlay, then the topper for that.
