Busy day today. I went to dermatology, where a resident confidently informed me that the blistery rash on my arms and the dry/seeping rash (both, yes) on my breast are both eczema. I think she's wrong, but I'll try the triamcinolone for a month. I've had eczema most of my life. If this is eczema, it's unlike any form of eczema I've ever had (and I've had more than one).

Ronan nursed and then slept through that appointment. I had to take the stroller because it's hard to disrobe/show off rashes while holding a baby. I was gonna leave him with Tom, but he neglected to find out how important this morning's phone meeting was.

After lunch, I tossed Ronan in the Zolo and headed downtown. I got a nice two mile walk in and picked up my ointment at CVS. I also stopped in at Atlantic futon to see how common the type of frame I'll want later is (when Ronan is significantly older, we want a bunk with a twin mattress on top and a double futon on bottom). Turns out they make them with additional bells and whistles: drawers, trundles, etc. They assured me that these frames will always be available (and in demand) in C'ville. Cool.

Tom picked us up on the crossing and we headed to North Garden to see the holistic pediatric/chiropractic folks. Ronan had some craniosacral therapy. I'm of the belief that gassiness is normal for a newborn. Tom's of the belief that minor adjustments now will benefit Ronan dramatically later. We're probably both right.

As usual, Tom managed to horrify and amuse the doctor (we're good at this).
[livejournal.com profile] krasota, nursing Ronan: I love it when his eyes roll up in his head.
Osteopath: Yeah, that utter bliss is cool (rolls her eyes back and flutters her lashes).
[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat: It's like he's a shark. Only they do it to protect their eyes from the bits and pieces of the feeding frenzy.
Osteopath stares at Tom: "no. No. NO. That's NOT what he's doing."
[livejournal.com profile] krasota: *laughs*

(This is on the heels of my having sprayed Ronan with milk. Tom does have a point.)

*hugs*

Does your rash look like its bumpy? Because I've had excema all my life as well.. and like you i've had it diagnosed as bad to now its the worst kind around.. except now I've had this rash on my right arm.. it started in my inner elbow area.. reddish..and bumpy.. doctor gave me a cream to treat it like a virus.... *shrug* ok it disappeared- not its back except its on my inner lower forearm.. smaller patch.. *sigh* and just when I thought I didn't have to send the referral to the dermatologist.. my GP thinks the dermatologist may have to do a biopsy.. :/ *hugs* Pandy

Kira: "It sounds perfectly fine to me!! Dude, I'm sure those things can be savage!"

Er, breasts in general, not yours in particular, I hasten to add ;D

Sorry to hear about the rash, I really hope that it clears up soon, whatever it may be!

**hugs**

I assume the skin issues may be related to a rebalancing of hormones post pregnancy? That could be a good thing if so because hopefully it will clear up as everything sorts out. Just a guess. I'm glad the doc gave you something to try for it - the symptoms sound miserable.

Hi. I came here on the suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] anmorata because she told me you live in Charlottesville.

I'm writing a travel guide on Charlottesville for sidestep.com, and I've never been there. I may have a few questions to ask you as I go. Would it be okay to send you email if I need a local's insight on the city?

Thanks.

I've heard somewhere that it takes a couple of weeks for a healthy population of good bowel bacteria to be established, so gassyness etc would be perfectly normal at first.

LOL at the shark comment; that's exactly the kind of attitude I like in (boy)friends!

The rash showed up at Christmas and hasn't gone anywhere since. My OB and GP both think it's *not* hormonal.

*snerk*

Drawers under the bed are immensely useful. My childhood bed had a number of drawers underneath, as well as a desk as the footboard. It's a lot easier to a keep a room neat, especially a small room, if there's built in storage and you don't have to discover new ways to stash the stuff kids tend to accumulate.
