We gave Jericho a smoked beef knuckle to keep him busy while we finished Color.1/Coat.2 in the second room. He was too worried about us and kept trying to sneak into the room. As soon as we finished, he settled down and attacked the bone with vigor. The smell of it is sickening me, so I'm outside, trying to fight against the glare.
We need to buy more tape today, along with a couple liners for the pan. As soon as Color.2 and Color.3 arrive, we can tape the edges and get to it.
We could go ahead and paint the windows, I suppose, since we have the paint for the trim. I'll give Color.1 a chance to dry, first.
We had the Sears repairman out this week for the washer. It's the timing module, just as Dad and I surmised. He told us we had three options:
replace it (about 300 bucks total)
buy a new washer (this one cost over 400 new)
keep doing what we're doing (manually resetting it to rinse/spin)
Since we're going to be washing lots of cloth diapers, I told him to fix it. $291 is still cheaper than a new washer and this one is only five years old. The part should be guaranteed for a time. The part alone costs around $193. Oooof.
Gah. It's been an expensive month (car repairs, paint stuff, washer). And April will be even more expensive, between the cabinets/counter and baby. At least the hospital will take a payment plan. And I'm really thankful that we're at a point in our life where we can handle these bills. I mean, it's not always easy or fun and we sometimes skip on entertainment or buying furniture, etc, but we don't starve. We're very fortunate.
It's pretty outside. Cool, light breeze, cherry blossoms snowing down around me. The camellia and quince in the backyard are both blooming . . . one of the front azaleas is in bloom. I've got arrowhead ginger coming up down the yard . . . and the peonies are poking through, along with the tiger lilies. It'll be a pretty summer.
If anyone local needs shipping/moving boxes, I have three of varying sizes + some packing peanuts.
