Dammit.

I'm really irritated with the garage we use right now. Normally, they're great. They're awesome.

The buick had to go in. It was making a spindly sound when underway, which went away when brakes were applied. Probably a wheel bearing, maybe something else.

So they called while I was still asleep and boy just okayed everything they said.

All new brake pads (I doubt this--I listen carefully to the brakes, feel the brakes . . . there hasn't been a single warning squeal and our brake pads DO have the warning strip). Now, they're "due" for one set (I'd have to look at records to remember which) and I was planning on checking that soon . . . but we haven't been driving it as often and they don't rot *that* quickly here, so I was waiting for the warning strip--that's what it's for. (And yes, Dad, I do listen to the brakes. The radio in that car doesn't work so well (broken antenna), so the car is frequently quiet inside.)

Front rotors . . . again, absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. I don't LET my brakes get so bad that rotors need *replacing*. Period. Learned that lesson the hard way ONCE.

Rotate and balance all four tires. Here's where I get angry. Boy KNOWS we put on four new tires less than 6000 miles ago. That absolutely wasn't indicated. And it could've been done for free at Sam's because we're well within warranty. He should've remembered this, but he has a mental block when it comes to anything mechanical. Grrrrr.

And when he talked to the receptionist, she didn't know the cause of the sound.

This is really unacceptable. I feel like they've taken advantage of my suburban non-mechanical husband.

You have my sympathies. I am still trying to figure out why my mechanic wanted to charge $600 for replacing my spark plugs, wires and a power steering flush. Even with saying no to that, it was still $860 yesterday and the stupid noise is still there.

I see that happen way to much, pretty much everywhere. rotors and pads are painfully easy to replace, but rear drums (if that's what your beast has) still boggle my mind.

I've actually called Finley's (i assume that's your garage?) on BS before. I *hate* when they try to do shit like that. I got that from Bob's once, too.

Boy okayed the work, so we're certainly obligated to pay, but I'm going to call them on the bullshittery. Finley's is usually really good to us.

If the original sound isn't gone, they're going to get my preggo wrath full force. Now, if the original sound was caused by something Sam's fucked up with the new tires, I'll go easy on them. I mean, it's a remote possibility, but I'd still have rather made Sam's fix it. I can redirect the preggo wrath.

Oh I'm sorry!

I've changed my own plugs before, but brakes... I'm clueless...

Sucky for them to try and take advantage of you
