skipped lowe's and jumped in the door of one of the bird stores beefore they closed. got suet and 20lbs of birdseed. i wanted to buy the seed there, anyhow, so that's good. i refuse to buy the grocery store varieties, since they contain either milo (filler--the birds don't eat it) or peanuts (i just shouldn't feed the birds stuff that i'm allergic to). they had hot pepper suet, too, which is what i wanted at lowe's. i'm glad. the bird guy who runs the place told me last month that he didn't stock that stuff because he's read squirrels still eat it. i told him that our squirrels are weenies and won't touch the hot stuff. he was intrigued and said he'd see about getting some. yay! i'd much rather support a small business. :)

we also got stuff at WF. food is good to have.

i was naughty and bought even *more* seeds: love lies bleeding, cardinal climber vine, cypress vine. i think i might go back for the climbing nasturtiums. those could be fun. of course, i planted three varieties of nasturtium in the planters today. perhaps i don't *need* more nasturtiums. those aren't climbing varieties, however, and i might just need some climbers, because, you know, having several climbing vines already isn't enough. i need at least one more... this one is *edible*, after all.

i also tossed some parsley seed in the broken planter. i scattered some love-in-a-mist and bachelor buttons in one planter, some catnip and basil in another... i can't remember what else, which isn't a good thing, but i'll just have to be surprised. i pulled the planter containing the dead fig seedling outside, tossed the seedling, added more mulch. i pulled the new empty 1.25cubic gallon planter out and filled it with soil and topped it off with cedar mulch. i'll plant some dwarf morning glories and other vines in those when it's nice enough to transplant my seedlings (another month, at least).

i need to get some sand to work into the soil boy cleared and turned over today. he also needs to do the soil testing. i'd do it happily, but tests like that make him quite happy. when i know how the soil is, i'll add whatever it needs and plant my raab and turnips.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] ez_mo and [livejournal.com profile] audiorapture are now happy parents to [livejournal.com profile] babyrapture's little sister. She was born yesterday morning. :) YAY!

(I guess the vibrating nipple clamps--or perhaps the mere thought of them--worked!)
