blue ridge parkway, parents visit
Apr. 4th, 2004 12:09 amMy in-laws arrived today, safe and sound--if a bit travelworn from their daylong trip from NJ. Apparently, traffic on I95 was hell.
Anyhow, they rested for a bit, then they piled into our car and we headed for the mountains.
We walked through the pioneer farm at Humpback Rocks Visitor Center, then drove on down to Greenstone Overlook, where we walked the Greenstone Geology Trail.
Tom and his mom, walking along behind. Note
explodingcat's hand position. He's normally like that in autumn, winter, and spring. If his sleeves allow, he does it without a coat, too. He's weird.
Tom's dad, Tom, stands next to a large hunka greenstone (a metabasalt. more about virginia's volcanic past
We headed down to Raven's Roost, for more view admiring. Tom's parents and the Shenandoah Valley. (looking NNW) same view, with hemlocks instead of people
Tom, tom, and me
yes, it was windy
