do i get multiple takes in this life?

i'm so sick of this.

saw the cardiac surgeon today. she thinks that the cyst is bronchogenic or bronchoenteric, not pericardial. she thinks the pericardial effusion was just a coincidence. the cyst is still there, but (very) slightly smaller. not sure what to think.

my doctor talked to both the surgeon and the pulmonologist in the last 24 hours and they all decided i need to be evaluated by a thoracic surgeon.

meanwhile, i'm sitting here amidst all this talk of needling the cyst, biopsies, bronchoscopies, surgery... and i'm thinking, "whoa... could we look at less invasive ways of examining exactly where this cyst is... say... a thoracic MRI?"

i just prefer to use the less intrusive means before i have needles stuck into tender areas. the thought of a needle being stuck THROUGH my trachea (from the inside) into the cyst really squicks me. and i really don't want the more invasive means of biopsying the cyst... not yet, anyway. they don't even know WHAT the damn thing is attached to... why go in only to find that it CANNOT be removed b/c it's connected to too many things?

needle. trachea.

ew. ew ew ew

i'm not in pain anymore, i just have a constant "pill stuck in throat" feeling.

gah.

*sighs* sorry to hear about that. Can they do any sort of laproscopic exam? It might be worse than the needle in the trachea, but could provide some better answers.

if they did biopsy or excise this, they'd use laproscopic means of figuring out where to go (they aren't gonna crack open my chest--that's for sure)... so if they do a laproscopy, they may as well do it all. it's just as invasive as surgery.

and that's what i want to avoid until the docs KNOW what this is and where it is.

Beverly Crusher could do it without hurting you.

[identity profile] krasota.livejournal.com 2002-02-19 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, but could she smell my spicy brains?

[identity profile] mactavish.livejournal.com 2002-02-19 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Not only could she, but she could do it and like it. :)

so you think Beverly Crusher liked examining women?

[identity profile] klwalton.livejournal.com 2002-02-19 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I read that before I glanced at the pictures, and I was thinking that was one of the more delightful non-sequiturs I'd ever seen :).

I think I feel your squickage, I probably wouldn't go back to get it done, so you are braver then I. I wish you luck and will hope for the MRI. *huggles*

[identity profile] krasota.livejournal.com 2002-02-19 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
well, i've backed out of two other procedures over the last five-six years... i wasn't feeling too well for the first (butt cam, as i so fondly call it), so it's sorta understandable. and i was discharged from the hospital the day before the second (skin punch small fiber nerve biopsy) and wasn't able to drive myself up to johns hopkins... and i didn't WANT to drive myself. ;)

bronchoscopy/needles... eeesh. i might be not making an appt for that one. ew.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through all this, that really sucks.

[identity profile] ismene.livejournal.com 2002-02-19 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god. That sounds horrible :(

I am going to take you back to the manufacturer and demand that they fix you, warranty or no warranty.

i think my parents feel bad enough as it is. ;)
