crap.

the garage called. it was the alternator. he's already put a new one on.

we had an alternator put on LAST July. that garage is now out of business, though. grrrrr.

well, at least Finley's is trustworthy and probably did the job right. they'll also likely guarantee the work/parts if i have trouble in the next year. they're good folks.

i'm rather upset. we're already overextending ourselves a little this week because we have to do the whole wedding thing, but now i have to pay another two hundred bucks for something i had done just a year ago. *sigh*

i need to call around and find a ride because they'd like to go home ASAP.


i'm just peeved. if i'd *known* AAS wasn't top-notch last july, i wouldn't have used them. but i was new in town and needed it fixed ASAP. i didn't *know* any other garages. when they replaced the alternator, they ended up blowing a lot of fuses that *I* had to find and replace myself. i didn't use them again because i thought that was really unprofessional... after replacing the alternator, one should CHECK the electronics. if some things don't work, find and replace the damn fuses.

anyhow, i found Finley's after that and i've been really happy there. *sigh* they're just across town. i didn't know red_frog's mechanic at that time, otherwise i'd have considered going there (it's just down the street).

am glad you got your vehicle fixed but sorry you had such a bad experience earlier...it is hard to find good places to do this kind of work.

Hrmmm, see if the new shop can ID the alternator and maybe you could get a partial refund on the part thus saving SOME of the cost. These shops never have their own brand and most of the chain parts stores carry warranties on the parts themselves, even without a receipt.
