ick

how can you live in a house for two weeks where two starving and dehydrated boys are locked up in a basement room and NOT know about it? and one DEAD boy? i suppose it's possible if the house is well insulated or the boys are sufficiently afraid to not call out for help.

Or you're usually chemically-impared, which I wonder if this guy was. The fact that the body was found in a storage bin makes me wonder if she was trying to deal with the smell.

I just think it's unbelieveable that she had CPC called on her a year and a half ago and nothing was done. Compare that to a certain friend of ours who has been investigated twice for no good reason....

*sigh*

i don't know how in the hell these things can happen. the system just doesn't work...the people who work *in the system* are so overloaded with cases that there have been laws passed in some states...problem with that is that the laws reduce caseload, but then where in the hell do they get more people (social workers) to take over the cases that get taken off of the existant workers? people who should never have been investigated *are*, and people like the woman in this story, are washed through with nary a thought.

and how do you live in a house and never know? same way someone i knew lived with her 2 girls for 6 years and never knew that her boyfriend was sexually abusing them...and never knew when her 12 year old got pregnant with his baby...and had to have a second trimester abortion...only because her aunt (my best friend at the time) went to visit and noticed that her niece was 5 months gone, already. in short, people see what they want to see, and disregard the rest.

BLEAH

That is vile.
Some people are disgusting - I can't imagine a) how anyone could *do* that to another living thing or b) how you could "not know" about it if you'd been living in that house!

Revolting.

I think if I had children, I *would* be tempted to store them in Rubbermaid containers and forget about them.

Hence, I have restrained myself. Probably better if she would have too.
