Christopher Fry passed away. Synchronicity is always odd. I just saw a production of his play, The Lady is Not for Burning, directed by [livejournal.com profile] eilonwy this past month.

I am out of sporks. I am braindead.

Yesterday was a whirlwind. Woke up to the not-so-friendly sound of our neighbor mowing his grass outside our window at 9:30am (who the heck does that on a holiday weekend?). Got up and eventually left the house. [livejournal.com profile] indyansel wanted to see Monticello. Upon getting up there and seeing the line at the parking lot, we all decided October would be a much better time to do that kind of thing. We went up to Carter's Mountain Orchard for peaches and then set out for Crabtree Falls.

For some reason, we thought it would be a good idea to go see Natural Bridge, too. We managed to go there and handle the oohing and aahing. Afterward, we drove home on the BR parkway and then quickly put together food for a bbq at [livejournal.com profile] nannar's home.

Dinner was had. Laughter was heard. A four and a half hour game of Munchkin ensued. We all came home and slept like the dead.

And dead I remain.

Ever an active corpse, I've slowly chipped away at the pile of dishes in the kitchen. Boy has taken it upon himself to caulk every seam in the house and I'm slowly getting high off the fumes. I think he grabbed the wrong tube of caulk. I'm getting really woozy and I'm fairly sure the stuff I bought isn't that noxious.

I have a caffeine headache. I suppose I should go dry my espresso pot and make myself some magical elixir. It's just rather late for it, is all.

I went to my memories to link the zucchini bread recipe, only to discover that the community I'd posted it in is long gone.

That's okay, I can repost it here. ;)

great-grandma's zucchini bread )

Someone just posted results of using a specific GF flour mix for banana bread. The bread looks fab, so I simply must try that mix with my beloved zucchini bread.
For those folks who wanted to wander over to McIntyre with us. We're probably leaving around 8pm. That's way earlier than necessary, but I prefer to walk in daylight. We prefer to avoid the crush of the lower area and generally cross the deathzone of 250 at McIntyre Road, then stagger up the hill, where we spread our blanket and rest for awhile. The mosquitoes are usually annoying, so I recommend long pants and sleeves and elbow-length black veils.
