(no subject)

I'm in a much better mood today. I was actually in a good mood by the time boy got home around 2am.

I tried very hard to sleep all day today, but the room was just a tad too warm (AC was on) and I knew once I got up to turn the window unit's thermostat down, I'd be up for good. It's probably better that I get up, anyhow.

I really need to start packing for the trip, but I think cleaning the car out might be a priority. It needs to be emptied and then taken to be washed and swept. It's hot outside, though. The hideous weather of summer is upon us. A high of 88F with humidity around 55% and a reasonable chance of thunderstorms. (The NWS says 20%, but the sky tells me the chances are far higher.)

Boy would live in darkness without me. A circuit had blown and he was stymied as to why the outlets and some lights didn't work. To be fair, our circuit breakers only flip back halfway and there are no little red panels inside, so it's hard to tell. I missed it the first time.

Today is a day for laundry, recycling, and cleaning. I think it will also be a day for getting coffee, oh yes, it will. And I also need green tea ice cream bars. Yes, those are necessary for my continued survival.

Since it's not likely to drop below freezing until sometime in October, I shut off the furnace and turned off the gas for it. We still need gas coming to the house for the hot water heater. Since our hot water is OMIGOD scalding hot, I turned it down a touch, to save a bit of money. I think that it will still be AAAAAUGH! hot, so my laundry should be fine.

So far, it's been a two margarita afternoon. So damn hot. I hate this weather. I wanted to move to the Northwestern Territories, but OH NO, my husband insisted it would get too cold. Well guess who's out there in this horrible heat mowing the grass?

The basement is cool and dark and cozy and has a strong wireless signal. Sadly, a persistent mosquito drove me back up here.

Sometime in the third week of June, I need two strong friends to come assist boy in putting our new window/wall unit in. It's HEAVY. nannar has said we can call him, but we'll need more help. I can't lift at all and I think this is a three or four person job, since the window/slot is kind of high. I'll also have to cut some plywood to fit. Fear me and my trim saw.
