rootofnewt: (car)
Our plane got in before nine. Our luggage took an extra half an hour to make it to the baggage claim, as the terminal we landed on was the distant terminal. The displays never did update to tell us which carousel would have our luggage, but sharp-eyed folks spotted it tumbling down an unlabelled carousel, so we all grabbed our stuff.

We got to the parking lot to discover that our interior lights came on when opening the doors, but they were rather dim.

And the engine wouldn't turn over. I realized I hadn't disconnected the battery and had stupidly let a Buick Regal sit in freezing temps for over a week without any thought about the battery.

With a heavy sigh, I went to a call box. Over half an hour later, boy went to the call box again and was promised that the jumpstart folks really were going to show up. I was getting cold and drowsy, so we weren't terribly happy about the nearly hour-long delay in getting a jumpstart. The guy eventually showed up and attached a jump box. We got some power, but not enough. He was convinced we had a bad starter, but I said I felt there wasn't enough juice in one portable jump. He grabbed another and it worked like magic. We let the car run for a few minutes, then headed home.

We did make a couple stops for food and caffeine, but one of us stayed with the car at all times so that we wouldn't have to shut it off. Got home at 1:30am local time, were in bed an hour later. I slept for what seemed like forever, then woke up perfectly awake at 4:30 am. I convinced myself I was really tired and slept for another nine hours.

Got up, took boy to class, had coffee with [livejournal.com profile] redzshadow and [livejournal.com profile] briskpepper, then raced away (late) to pick up boy.

In other news, we have a low flow toilet. I hate it.

Time to go set some folks on fire.
