I had a lovely entry typed up.

LJ or XP ate it.

I'm going to bed.

Okay, I'm going to attempt to post again. LJ has been pretending to eat replies and has devoured any entries I've tried to make.

Anyhow, we primered the "new" wall in the master bedroom of the house last night. It's the "new" wall because it's plywood or masonite and has closet doors. The other three walls are plaster and didn't seem to need primer.

We also taped and dropclothed the room prior to painting, of course. We did this while listening to the Stray Cats. I highly recommend this music for painting and masking.

Two nights ago, my dear, darling, and--by some miracle-- still living husband stepped on a freshly polyurethaned threshold. Well, the polyurethane coat was two hours old, but still quite tacky. He was wearing FILTHY COMBAT BOOTS. Ahem. I did not kill him. I did not divorce him. Yesterday, I was able to sand out most of the damage before applying the third coat of polyurethane. Yes, I still have a headache from the fumes.

He's damn lucky he bought me power tools earlier this week. Damn lucky.

I've won out in the paint battle. Boy still gets some bits of choice, but less. I prefer lighter paint colors. Rich, deep jewel tones are nice, but a bitch to paint evenly and a bitch to paint over. He likes richer tones. I'd compromised and went down to the paint store to get some paint in Duron's "flaxflower" color (Millennium series). Well, it turns out that I can't have low-VOC or no-VOC paint in deep tones. They have to be white-based colors, which are all lighter. And since I must use Genesis paint by Duron (I've tried other paints--even AFM's Safe-Kote makes me *sicksicksick*). So the room will be "Handsome Blue", which boy thinks is more manly than Jeffrey Blue. it's also in the same colorway thingy as the Flaxflower blue. It's the darkest of the light blues, so I think he'll be happy. It's remarkably similar to the blue room I had as a child.

We should have taken advantage of the warmer days this week to paint the rooms, but we didn't. It was just too nice to be cooped up. So now it's chilly and rainy and we're painting. Alas.

We decided that the data conversion at AU (Datatel era) was far more tedious than masking trim. At least we own this. The data conversion at AU involved lots of worker's comp for carpal tunnel because the data didn't convert that well and we had to manually enter TONS of data. This was not in our job descriptions, but we had to do it. My wrists, neck, and back ache with the memory.

[livejournal.com profile] nothingoth took pictures in our basement. He linked to them earlier this week. He makes it look creepy.

We need to go over and paint some more. I forgot to tape up the ceiling fan fixture yesterday, though I *did* remove the fan blades. I meant to go over earlier, so that I could remove the light bulbs, remove the votive pieces, then replace the bulbs. Ooops. I'll do it in the dark.

I'll get some pictures up soon. I have some from the house inspection, but I don't have any posted from the "now we own it" phase, where it's mostly empty, except for random plants, tools, and boxes.

And, crap! I need to go refill my Keppra right now. EEEEK!
