Dec. 20th, 2004

It's a balmy 17°F(-8 C) out there right now. Projected High/Low temps for Monday? 30°/18° (-1/-8 C). (Sure, could've gone more precise, but let the National Weather Service scripts run instead.)

Now, it's windy out there. 15mph, with gusts up to 25mph.

So, for those of you who are in the heat of summer, think of this. It *feels* like it's 2 F/-16 C out there right now.

Ah, windchill.

Oooooh, and now the NWS lets me know that it's 14F (-10 C) here, with a projected high of 27F (-2.7 C). Yippeee! And the wind is now 17mph. WOOHOO! That means it feels like -2 F/ -19 C out there! I'm gonna go freeze my lips off. It should take approximately 60 minutes, but I have skin that is torn more easily than most, so it's either more resilient or less resilient to the cold.

I should go dig out another blanket for our bed.

And while it's *cold* out there, I've been in colder. Much colder.

Uphill.

Both directions.

(trying to refamiliarize myself with using celsius scale, so expect frequent weather posts as i remind myself what certain temps feel like)

Just so you know, it's about 263.16K here right now.

And I don't *need* to familiarize myself with kilometers. I'm quite happy with our crazy ass miles. If you really need a scale of reference, you can know that 17mph is more or less 27kph, 15 knots, or 8m/s.

Now. this floor is COLD. I need to find a blanket.

And I'm in the room with carpet.
A post in a community inspired me to share our Yaksmas Tree with you all.

First, we have our tree, lighting up the room. Even with light, the true horrors are not revealed. No, we must draw closer.

Could it be? Is this festive tree bedecked with the disembodied head or heads of Kris Kringle?

It seems too horrible to be true! What horrors could lie in the depths of this tree? Do you dare draw nearer, yea, even to creep between those be-tinseled boughs?

• Go out for coffee.

• Clean out my espresso pot and make my own damn foamy confection.

I think I should opt for the second. After all, I have frangelico here.

My feet are cold. I should dip them in hot coffee.

Whipped cream should always have Chambord.
