if anyone within driving distance wants an old Mac Performa 6360 that might work if it has a mind to, let me know. It should still have the keyboard and mouse with it. The monitor is dying. We might have the original software and a few games. I think this came with OS7 or something along those lines. It *did not like* os8, os9 is slow on it. I'm not sure if boy eventually put 7 back on it or not.

Otherwise, I'm offering it to [livejournal.com profile] mrjustice for disassemblage (industrial might points for parts/decor), if he would like it. If anyone wants the monitor for the same reasons, speak up. It really is dying and has no use other than destruction. ;)

I can't bring myself to chuck stuff in the trash if someone might get some use out of it. Pathetic, I know.

And where does one discard of old cell phone batteries? They can't go into landfills, so where do I take them?

stuff

tonight, i shall have with me:
pierogie shapers for [livejournal.com profile] mbickers
gloves for [livejournal.com profile] solieri

[livejournal.com profile] agentleman, how do you propose obtaining the fry daddy (no, it has no thermostat. i'll see if i can still find the manual, but i'm not sure there was one) and creepy clown? if you'll be needing a ride home tomorrow, i could oblige and deliver you home with the goods.

still need to drop off toys/clothing... and need to take CDs to plan 9.

i have some books which weren't wanted by Daedelus... they're not bad books, maybe i'll release them into the wild. i'll offer the up to locals first.
A Certain Justice, PD James hardback
the rest are all paperback:
Book of Moons, rosemary edgehill (mystery, pagan subjects)
The Evening News, Arthur Hailey
Blood Brothers, T. Lucien Wright (horrid vampire fiction--highly recommended for those who like drek)
Elven Star, vol 2, The Death Gate Cycle, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman
Sacrifice, John Farris (mystery, horror, aztec stuff)
The Inferno, Dante. John Ciardi's translation.

I have some poly-fill. a large unopened bag. the antimicrobial additives aren't that good for me, so i'm not using it. [livejournal.com profile] originalcynic and [livejournal.com profile] mbickers have first dibs.

boy is out raking leaves. i'm slowly moving/consolidating/fetching so that we can erect the tree and dance with glee.

At some point, I need to mail things... packages for exchanges, CDs for those who wanted them from the garage sale, etc. Not sure when the CDs will go out, though. They've sat this long... ;)
boy bagged many bags of leaf sludge (it snowed before he could bag the leaves, which the landlord had kindly blown into a pile under a tree for us that same day... which was the day i had to get an xray and boy had work meetings, etc)...

we snuck some morning glory vine in there. i didn't realize leaf bags are for leaf waste *only*, no garden waste. oops. someone will have some lovely flowers in their mulch. hope it's not someone like our landlord, who regards morning glories as "horrible weeds"...

anyhow.

i planted the tulip bulbs about a month or two late. we've had a couple hard freezes (okay, so we've had a fairly significant snowfall already), but the ground was soft and pliable... so i planted them around the base of the maple tree and then mulched them quite heavily. hopefully they'll be okay and come up.

i greased the hook poles from which we hang bird feeders. more fun to watch the squirrels this way.

the tree is up, but we haven't decorated it yet. we both need showers. well, *I* do.

i have morning glory seeds. saved a few. :)

henna...

so, i've got henna on my hair. i'll wash it out around 8:30-9. then i shall dress, we shall hit [livejournal.com profile] krues8dr's housewarming, then the dawning.

boy's making some dinner. i wonder if he'll kill me when i ask him to go out and pick up a few things after his shower.

i've gotten very quick at hennaing my hair. i can generally use my bare hands and do it quickly enough that they don't get stained.

well, today, i decided to use tea tree oil in the mix, under the belief that it actually helps the dye compound release better.

um.

my hands... they're going to be orange-red for awhile. i can scrub them with peroxide and toothpaste and they might lighten. ooof.

i wonder what color my hair will turn out... i've been edging toward darker henna shades... this one is 2/3 mahogany, 1/3 red. the color henna produces depends on several factors, but one of which happens to be the climate/soil in which it grows... so there are hennas which don't actually deposit color, some which go more orange, some which go more brown... i don't buy my henna from a mehndi source like Kenzi or CastleArt... i just buy in bulk from the health food store and it's probably one of the major brands... i just make sure it's fresh looking and smelling.

so, for those who wonder... i'll smell like hay/tea/cloves tonight because i just covered my hair in paste resembling nothing so much as baby poop.
