spending all evening chatting with a friend one loves very dearly is one of the most comforting pastimes.

my couch is a good slouch/lounge spot for laughing, jibing, talking quietly, and watching south park. it has pillows on which to prop up feet for comparison, nooks to balance hot tea, and places to hide when the conversation gets a little too painful and deep.

now... boy better come home soon because i'm going to be grumpy if i don't get to cuddle someone soon.

oh. my hair is brassy red. the henna i bought was different than my usual... and it's bright. :D i have no clue how long it will take my normal reddish-blondish-brownish calico to peek through again.

i'm in a cuddle mood. boy, come home now... you've had enough bachelor partying for the night.

slush

boy and i wanted to treat ourselves to a movie today, so we hopped in the car and headed for the uptown in DC. since the roads were really slushy in our area, we opted to metro in. i can handle *my* car in wintry conditions, but i do not trust the locals, who don't know how to drive when it's NOT icy and slick.

we metro'd down... walked in the pouring slushy rain one-half block to the uptown... and saw that the four o'clock show was sold out. ptooie.

walked back to the metro, debated seeing a movie in rockville... decided to just head for our car at the end of the line... it's a good thing we both carry books everywhere.

after fetching our car, we went to fields of flesh (Whole Foods, Fresh Fields, Wild Oats, Bread & Circus) to pick up eggs and various other items. i found a delicious smoked mozzarella in the deli. yummy. we went to giant to fetch breyer's yogurt and OJ. then we braved the now very slushy/icy roads two miles home. the locals were either driving too slow or way too fast (having an SUV does NOT protect one from skidding or hydroplaning). i was thankful to pull into our parking spot and walk inside.

now i'm waiting for the brita filter to filter some water. this pitcher takes longer and longer to filter, it seems... are the filters getting better/worse? i think i'm going to get a faucet filter next time.

if i can get up the energy to make dinner, i'll be happy. braised kale, red chard, leeks, onions, garlic... yum.

and maybe some pizza bagels, if i feel like slicing the bagels.
