just went out to spot the coathanger asterism. woohah!
cygnus is especially difficult to find this time of night. it's directly overhead, but that means it's at its most compact form. and the milky way is quite distinct out here, so it can be difficult to even locate the distinct shape of cygnus. i had more luck with lyra and aquila, who lie lower. in fact, i used casseopia and cephus to locate cygnus, finally, simply because i was peeved that the swan could hide from me. ;)
i saw several perseids and several non-perseids.
now i'm gonna go back out and try spotting M31. my binoculars are kiddie (7x35), so i'm not sure this will work.
