i finally told boy that i only needed a pinch of cayenne and paprika--not a penisful of each.

anyhow, those crackers took all of 10 minutes to make (the cheese was already grated--leftovers from the tacos we made for dinner). wow. these are good.

i topped all with a little coarse salt. then i topped a few with onion powder, some with onion powder + celery seed, some with vegetarian chicken-style seasoning (one of the http://www.fatfree.com recipes), and left a few plain.

wow. these are yummy. and soon, they'll be gone.

i'll try kalonji and cumin seed on the next batch.

we're gearing up to use garbanzo bean
flour for the first time this weekend!

mandy (my sister) has been off all glutens
for close to 2 years now so shes pretty
geeked about this flatbread we're going
to try to make. :)

we bought a sorghum flour too but found out
that it can aggravate a goiter if you already have
one (she does a little) so we're not going to mess
with it. have you ever tried it?

my mom has become even more of a creative
cook since she started doing the diet control
thing. i wish i wasnt so lazy/such a bad cook/so
addicted to terrible foods, cause everything she
makes is wonderful & im sure it could only
benefit my health to eat a little better too.

i would never in a million years have imagined
that id see my sister completely off ALL junk
foods, pop & fast foods (not to mention nearly all
dairy & meat & ALL sugars & processed anythings)
but she is! im so proud of her for doing it!

she kinda went cold turkey: @ the beginning,
all she was eating was plain organic yogurt & a
watery chicken soup...slowly she added in one new
thing @ a time & waited to see if & how it would affect
her. it was a long row to hoe & a lot of trial & error
but now shes doing SO good!!! its amazing really...

& i honestly have you to thank for a lot of it. you were
the first person who told us about some of the places
to look for info. if you hadnt, im not sure where shed
be today. :(

i wish i had a picture of her back then. she looked so
awful, just like zelda from pet sematary...
now, she looks beautiful!!!! her hair is 3x as thick as it
ever was, her skin is gorgeous & glowing & she is
the healthiest sick person ive ever seen!!! nearly ALL of
her previous symptoms are gone & she can move on
her own.

we know that shes regrown cartilege in her hip:
she has full freedom of movement now (even tho
shes still a little weak from such a long period of
inactivity) we're taking care of that slowly but surely
tho. :)

most importantly, she isnt in any pain whatsoever
anymore. none. its really amazing. :) & she doesnt
take any pain medication @ all either. not even
ibuprofin!

i have a couple questions for you...

what kind of household products do you use?
like for laundry? we heard about this ball thing
that cleans your clothes in the washer with some
kind of magnetic charge? i was wondering if youd
ever heard of it or know anyone whos tried it.

mandy has found that she has a real chemical
sensitivity (especially to anything scented) so
we've been trying to cut out all such products. we
checked @ whole foods a couple weeks ago but
she wasnt impressed with anything they had to offer.

have you ever thought that your condition might be
(partially) possibly because of molds or fungus?
mandy has done a shitload of research on yeasts,
candida, molds & other stuff like that & thinks that
its possible that theyre responsible for an awful lot
of diseases with unknown causes...if youd
like any more info id be more than happy to send
you links to some of websites that she likes.

also, my mom has come up with a ton of good
recipes so if you ever want any, let me know!
:)

besan (garbanzo) flour is very good for indian flatbreads. :) buckwheat and rice flour can also be used for things like roti. sorghum is *very* strong flavored, so i don't use it.

i've investigated mold and, while it's a huge problem for me allergy-wise (our last apt was infested), it's not a systemic thing. my doctors test me regularly for fungal infections.

for laundry, i use ALL free & clear--about 1/3 of the amount suggested on the container. i use vinegar in the rinse cycle (in the fabric softener slot). this helps remove soap from clothing, so no fabric softener is needed.

i use seventh gen unscented dish soap. when i had a dishwasher, i used ecover tablets and rinse-aid. i use several seventh-gen window, kitchen, and shower cleaners. in the bathroom, i use two Earth Friendly Products--creme cleanser and the toilet bowl cleaner. i also sometimes just use borax in the toilet. i have bon ami instead of comet.

most of my other cleaning products are made from scratch. i buy kitchen soap around passover and i grate this into my mop bucket, then add vinegar, borax, washing soda, and hot water.

the ball thing completely flunked the consumer reports review.

i'm so glad your sister is feeling so much better. :)

btw, besan flour can be used to coat veggies (like tempura) before deep frying (oh, so healthy)... this is called pakoora.

okay the recipe sounds brilliant (yours always does, I wish I had half the discipline to eat that well) but thanks to you I am mopping ice tea and partially disolved advil out of the keyboard. You should put a warning on things like penisful!!!
