Sitting on the deck in the deck chairs I bought this year . . . rear in one, feet up on another. Ronan's playing in his sand table. I have an iced latte on the table. I'm watching my conditioner pellets soak up water and disintegrate--I'll mix them with more water and some cellulose later and I'll be much happier in the shower tonight.

And I've stolen Tom's laptop now that he's shipped mine back to Apple for the repairs they forgot to do last time. It's true that fixing Apple products can be a pain in the ass and an expensive pain, at that. Thing is, when I had a clone (PC? what's the word these days?), I was *always* replacing parts or cursing at the dreaded blue screen of death. Always. I mean, it was a several times a day occurence, that damn blue screen.

So while I may bitch about Apple repair, I still have a more pleasant experience than I ever did with my old machines.

...

We went to Washington Park pool yesterday. Zero entry. Ronan loved it. My pool pass will be worth my while this year. We'll try the new Onesty complex down at Meade later this week, maybe. Today was Greenleaf (sprayground), where the fountains were merely ON ON ON. . . as in, full blast, full pressure, soak everything within 20 yards. It was a bit intimidating. I'm glad I have quick drying shorts on today.

...

Okay, Ronan's done with the sand table, he wants to go play in his pool. Off we go to change into our suits and stew with dirty water and dead grass. Mmmm. Tasty.

I WANT AN ICED LATTE. DARN IT JOS IT'S LIKE EIGHT DON'T MAKE ME WANT AN ICED LATTE NOW NOOOOO... hmm. I do have chocolate-noted wine. OKAY, THAT WILL SUFFICE.

Hahahaha, I still say you Mac people complain ALL THE TIME. ;9

I've been pretty much all PC laptops for the last ten years, and I almost never have internal problems. I broke one by dropping it on a concrete floor, and the last one I ripped all the keys off trying to clean it... although it still runs fine with an external keyboard. Other than that, every system I have had still runs just fine. (Although I always buy Best Buy/Squaretrade warranties just in case -- the keyboard one is the only one without, of course.) I wipe mine pretty often, but... I think researching the system has a lot to do with it. It's not really an apt comparison, since Macs are ONE manufacturer, and PCs are, you know, many and several. (My cousin just built Three a gaming desktop out of components -- awww, geek bonding!) And I maintain mine pretty religiously, because I don't like messy innards.

I was trying to think of a comparison for cars, but honestly, come to think of it, the Prius has a similar following! (What's the plural of Prius? Priuses? Priuii?) Cool if you like them, but, you know, not a truck, if you need a truck.

I often think about taking you up on your machine offer, usually when I need to clean my moka pot. ;)

I don't even have one out! Kitchen's too darn small... I maybe should make room, though. I'd probably drink a bit much coffee... much... more, that is...

This wine ain't half bad!

Heh

You CAN run OS X on cheap hardware..... No more blue screens, and no more apple price tag. :-)

I love my macbook pro, but I'm not dropping $2500 on a laptop again. I'll install OS X on a nice quality cheapo next time.
