My house is in the worst mess it's been in a long time.

What is it that makes dust collect? Is it millions of books? I change the filters regularly in the furnace (allergies), but our home is almost always caked in dust. Fan blades get cleaned a few times a year, yet they still get coated quickly. I look around and wonder if I have coal miners living here when I'm not looking.

Anyhow, I'm slowly putting things away from our trip northward. And gathering more donations/freecycle items. Divesting myself of clutter is hard, but worthwhile.

Speaking of donations, I have two large posterboard size pieces of foamcore free for the taking to local folks who will come and pick it up and take it away ASAP. Anyone need foamcore?

Ha, you have a kid! I've never seen a real house with kid that doesn't look like that, at least sometimes... not one I'd want to live in, anyway.

But I think the dust must be a Virginia thing... I can't keep the fanblades from getting instantly coated, and we switched to the Super Filters, too. (I'm not sure it's worth the freaking $20, but it does seem to help with allergies. The lingering weird house smell seems to be much reduced.)

I forgot to give you money for spoons! We really do have heaps of eggs if you want some. Wheeeeee!

They were six bucks. I'd gladly trade for eggs. :) I can bring some cartons on Friday if your mom was serious. ;)

Oh, heck yeah she was... if you don't mind swinging by the medical-y place to get them, I'm sure she's going to enjoy the frequent of occupation of sitting around waiting for my drugs to wear off. ;9 I'm not sure if we could drop them off on the way back, maybe? I'll ask. I'm gonna be out of it, I'm sure...

We can come on over. It's part of my daily walk, anyhow. Will she be in the waiting room at the Digestive Center of Excellence?

Not a VA thing. We seem to have a dust farm in our house, fresh filters on the furnace be damned.

Some of this stuff just baffles me. How do you clean cobwebs off of textured ceilings? Keep fanblades clean?

WHY ARE THE LADYBUGS POOPING ON MY NEW PAINT?

... housekeeping....

I suspect my MiL's secret to clean fan blades is this (http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=351155&cm_ven=Compare&cm_cat=Mercent&cm_ite=datafeed&cm_pla=GoogleBase&mr:trackingCode=D410713A-41BE-DD11-8F1F-0019B9C2BEFD&mr:referralID=NA).

For ceilings and corners, you need a Webster.

You may be able to find one in a local hardware store.

My doggies drag in a ton of dust from the now nearly weed free back yard. :\

Our yard is grassy, leafy, damp, and clay. I suppose it turns to dust once it dries, but I think it mostly stays embedded in the carpet in the front room. ;)

While I think he is a bit nuts my father has gone to cloth handkerchiefs rather than paper tissues. He also stocks a non fluffy toilet paper. He is a dust phobic. He said that the dust level in both his houses dropped significantly when he switched over. While I do think he is nuts he might have something there.

Tissues would do it. Good point. We have a non-fluffy TP and don't use paper in the kitchen. But I go through a lot of nose wipes. I could switch to cloth, it's not like I couldn't toss used handkerchiefs in with the towels or diapers.

When will he switch to cloth tp? ;)

Part of dust is just skin cells. Stop shedding, damnit! ;)

Have you ever seen the number of skin cells that a human body emits under infrared? We had to watch a video on that here at work.. it's pretty amazing. That's why we have to dress up in the crazy suits.. to keep the skin cells as contained as possible.

I'm always amazed by the quantity of hair I have to cut out of the vacuum cleaner roller brush.
