rootofnewt: (cooking)

This afternoon, I've roasted beef, made green-garlic & basil pesto, and made another chocolate tart. I'll have to lure [livejournal.com profile] audiorapture over to help me eat it.

I need to go see if I cooked the beef enough. It didn't take long, but it registered more than hot enough . . . yet, I wonder. Anyhow, it's to be lunch meat for the week.

For dinner, we had hamburgers with provolone and pesto. We need to figure out what veggies we want for today. soon, I'll shower with the urchin and he'll go to sleep.

It's been a long day.

When would you like me to show up?

Not related to roast beef...

Oh, where to begin... Commenting to say hello to another C'ville person. I saw a recent comment from you in the AP group, or maybe it was NF (don't recall), and remembered I knew you from Fin's journal. Didn't realize you'd had a sprog--congrats! He' very cute. My dd just turned two, and she gives us a run for our money. Anyhow... would love to pick your brain about some C'ville stuff (good GP? an ND? question about a doc I think we might share?) if you have a neuron to share. Also, you may have friends a plenty, but I am always looking for more like-minded folk, or at least similarly-minded. Seems like you may be a SAHP; sadly, I'm not. Okay... too much for one comment and dd is waking up from her nap...

Hi!

I'm always looking for more AP folks. :)

I do SAH. I was a SAHP(erson) well before I had the urchin. I fit perfectly into cville's unemployed coffeeshop slacker society. ;) Well, sort of.

Feel free to pick a brain!

The sadly bit about not being a SAHP is mostly my reflection of wanting to be parts of playgroups, spending more time, etc. One day, maybe... still not sure if I would be able to keep my sanity though. Oh, right... I lost that ages ago.

Pick... pick... I am looking for a new GP because I've lost faith in mine. having scanned back over some of your entries (looking for cute baby pics), it seems to me like you would be someone who might have one (or perhaps be on the same quest, sadly). Thoughts? Also curious about a naturopath, but haven't found anyone locally who can recommend anyone. More brain picking.

Oh... and I caught a reference to a Dr. B. and his wife. I was referred to a Dr. B. for some chronic back issues, and know his wife practices with him. I only managed to go once (about 4 weeks ago), then ended up with two colds in that span, and with that and crazy work and home life, never scheduled f/u visits. Have tried PT in the past which helped some, but not enough. Dr. B. thought he could do more than PT, but I think I also have a mental block as to what Dr. B can/does do, if that makes sense. Not to mention I could to PT at 7 am before work, and I can't do any Dr. B/Dr. B's wife before work, and so that is hard. *sigh* If this is the same Dr. B. to which you referred, I would be curious to know your thoughts & opinions on his practice, etc.

More brain picking... I may be remembering wrong from Fin's journal, but I am thinking you've had some MCS issues. If so, would love to pick your brain on that topic as well. I'll stop brain picking now though, as I think I've probably used more than my fair share of your neurons. :)

P.S. I went ahead and added you to my FL. I have to say that I read far more than I post, but I do sometimes post. It's mostly an energy level thing. I can think up wonderful posts in my head, but the energy required to actually type them is prohibitive at times.

My GP is in Scottsville. When we moved down this way, we lived in Esmont for a year. I still have the same GP, though I should probably switch to someone in Cville. My husband sees Dr. M at Downtown Family Medicine. Ronan sees Dr. G at the same location. Dr. M is an allopath, but he can be pretty crunchy if you swing that way.

I've been very happy with Dr. B. I'm going to see his other partner (non-wife) for myofascial massage soon. I'm looking forward to that. My husband has had very good luck with Dr. B, too. He was referred for pain caused by a yoga injury, then saw him for some repetitive stress issues caused by a few different issues. Other docs had said, "ice, heat, ibuprofen, surgery), Dr. B just fiddled with the fascia for awhile and made the problem go away after a few weeks. ;) He's basically an MD who does manipulative therapy. So he combines osteopathy with allopathy. His specialty seems to be acute injuries rather than chronic problems, but he's does wonders for my non-fibro pain and I've used him to document neck/back issues for my medical record. He's kinda sports/ooccupational medicine, in that respect. He used to share space with Dr. D.--chiro downstairs in the same building. I have friends who see Dr. D.

I do have MCS. As for LJ, I post randomly. Sometimes frequently, sometimes sporadically. I read obsessively during naptime. ;)

Dr. G.'s partner was recommended to me by a number of folk now, but I was a bit confused because I thought a Dr. S. was there and not Dr. M. I think I would work well with an allopath with crunchy leanings. I just need a good solid GP who will actually _listen_ to what I have to say, and not dismiss me or ask, "what do you think it is?" in an exasperated tone of voice.

I'd like to give Dr. B. a full-hearted try, but I am not sure it will work with work. I also fear if I don't fully believe in it that it might not work (not because it doesn't work, but because of the whole mind-body connection, if you know what I mean).

I think there is also a Dr. S at downtown family health. I could be wrong.

Dr. B has only ever done purely physical manipulations with me. He's not gone all kooky new age on me at all. ;) I don't see him for fibro related problems, but things like sciatica, muscle spasms, and the like. Stuff that's got an obvious cause . . . I don't know how he'd be with more vague or nebulous issues. He's quite good with things that affect my ability to walk, for example. I suppose it boils down to the fact that I trust him. I've dealt with a lot of providers, good and bad. I've dealt with crackpots and ineffectual therapies, allopathic and kooky. He doesn't ring any of my warning bells. That doesn't mean his stuff'll work for you, but it might be worth a try.

I haven't been to a WFM in so long now that I don't even know what they have any more. I just got so fed up with the one near me that I stopped going all together. Maybe after I move...

They're stocked irregularly down here. Really frustrating. You may need to call ahead or even request them.
