yet another one of my one-time favorite childhood writers has passed on.

i need to start reading *younger* authors. ;)

I was sad, too. I collect Nancy Drew first editions, but I also have a bunch of the childrens' series she wrote under her own name (at the time, as Mildred A. Wirt), also in first editions. When they announced it on NPR last night, I was positive I was the only person in the world who know who she was, beyond Carolyn Keene. I'm glad I'm not.

i read her, too - several books are on my parents's bookshelves waiting for when my niece is old enough to enjoy them.
