Aug. 8th, 2006 09:50 pmI got sick and tired of not exercising (the great outdoors is triggering my asthma something awful and the heat/humidity also does bad things fibro-wise), so I've decided to drag boy and
nannar to the gym every day/night.
Initially, I was going to walk 30 minutes every night so that I can sleep again. however, I only have one pair of athletic shoes. They're hiking shoes. Damn, they're SO not good for treadmill or city walking. No flex, no bounce, no roll. They're made for mountains and weight and uneven surfaces, not a treadmill. So I've got to see if shoes are in the budget soon.
Anyhow, yesterday I walked 1.66 miles in half an hour, most of it on an incline. My hips, knees, and feet are very upset with me for doing this in my hiking shoes. Today, I did my aquatherapy exercises and swam 100 meters. It's not much of a swim, but it's not bad for someone who's not on her asthma meds.
I also need to find my water bottle and find the combination for my padlock. Joy.
Other local folks who belong to ACAC: I'm always up for daytime pool/cycle/treadmill time. Let me know when you want to go.

Otherwise, where do you usually shop for sneakers? Maybe we can find you a deal.

Date: 2006-08-09 03:37 am (UTC)What asthma meds were you on? My childhood doc always suggested swimming for my asthma.
-Robin (sparrow) btw: I moved back to PA from California.
Re: What asthma meds?
Date: 2006-08-09 03:40 am (UTC)I usually take Accolate. I'm out and my insurance requires mail order and a paper prescription, so I actually have to go to my doctor's office (half an hour away), mail it in, etc, and the company will still screw it up. So I'm trying to avoid triggers, instead. ;)

Date: 2006-08-09 04:10 pm (UTC)I *love* them. It took around a week to get used to them, but my feet don't hurt anymore. I have the blue color (standard?) which ran around $35. I can walk around a show all day working and not hate my feet at the end of the day.
For the record, I have compromised circulation in my right leg due to a horrific accident 15 years ago. The SuperFeet STILL work great.
For what it's worth, your icon made me curious so I decided to glance at your journal.
