(no subject)

today i made bloomers out of a crazy glow-in-the-dark star print.

they're huge and airy. i need to take in the waist elastic, but i'll do that later.

these were just a practice run. the pattern i used suggests way too much ease and airiness. Or maybe I just have more slender legs than the average rennfester. Who knows. I even scaled down the total proportions slightly and they're *still* huge and airy. These would be great for adult babies who want to wear diapers. this is the first time i've drafted a pattern for actual clothing. i can see ways i need to improve on this one, but it's a good start.

i still think they'll be nice for summertime, though. ;)

Whee, cool! I'd love a pair of bloomers!

i'm making another pair from black eyelet cotton right now.

using this method (http://www.mistymountain.org/~maggie/makeyourown.htm), which should have occurred to me. and Simplicity 7655, the capri pants (B) option. super simple. i'm ironing out the pattern right now and should be done fairly soon. ;) i want a very slim (but long) set that won't be too baggy under skirts.

i'm going to have to go buy lace trim if i like them enough. ;)

I am gonna have to check this out cause with my conditions...I can't stand clothing that is snug...loose and baggy...

Simplicity has patterns for bloomers in their historic costume line. Grab 'em when the patterns are 99 cents.

Oooh, can we see pictures of these bloomers? Sounds like a funky pattern, can't wait to see it :D The second link you provided has an awesome idea for bun covers, some people are so creative :) I can't wait to go to Wal-Mart and buy me some doilies, heh.

The frightening thing is, when I first read about these bloomers, I read that they were "huge and hairy."

I have three cats. Everything I own is hairy. If I had bloomers, within a few hours, they too would be huge and hairy. Well, hairy, anyway.

Yay for shedding kitties.
