[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat, this is NOT a cool malady. please don't attempt to contract it. thanks.

(wow, my subject sounds dirty...)

I'm flaring very badly.

No, I'm not hung over. That would be far less painful. I'm just aching horribly and my neck and shoulders make me want to scream every time I move them.

The landlord and [livejournal.com profile] explodingcat are attempting to move the dryer in. Since the appliance guy can't make it out til next week (when we're on vacation) or later, and I *need* to finish laundry before vacation, the landlord decided that he'd come over and help boy move out the house's dryer and move in our dryer (which is stored in the shed).

He also said that after the garage sale (August), he wants to move the washing machine out to his part of the shed and move ours in. YAY! I want my washing machine in here SOOOOO badly. It's larger and works far better than the old one in here.

I need to shower and then go pick up some groceries or something, if I can bear to drive. I need to buy sunscreen for boy, CDRs while they're still on sale at Office Depot (19.87/pack; buy one get one free, imation 50pk 700MB/80min), and pick up a beach towel. Tom wants to use his parents' extra towels, but those always make me sick because of the sunscreen, detergent, and fabric softener. Why does boy not understand this?? I think he's just not thinking. He doesn't read my mind and I didn't give him that reason for buying a new beach towel. Of course, *I* think he should realize this, since I can't ever use their towels and if I do use the *house* towels, I have to wash them several times before I can bear to use them to dry off. My own beach towel that I have here is threadbare and over 10 years old. I use it for henna now. It's not fit for anything else, except mopping up grease.

I hear grunting and banging about. I should go supervise. yes. yes, indeed.

So...

There's nothing quite like the feeling of wiping a hard disk clean. It terrifies me every time, though it's been a long time since I've had to do it.

I re-initialized the hard disk of the Powerbook (G3). It's much happier now.

But...

After transferring all the programs, pictures, etc, to boy's computer for safekeeping... and after asking him "did we get everything? is there ANYTHING ELSE?"... and after actually the initialization and installation of OS9.

i realized that i forgot to back up my email.

i had several years' worth of email.

I had a lot of *important* email relating to mailing lists I administrate. I had a lot of important-to-me personal email. I had thousands of recipes. I had all my friends' email addresses, friends' and relatives' *mailing* addresses, and a lot of information pertinent to the IAAA Board in there...

crap.

Oh, well. As I told boy--there's no point in getting upset now. I can ask friends for back-ups.

If I normally email you, please email me at one of my explodingcat dot com addresses or at my livejournal account. Otherwise, you won't hear from me... ;)

Oh, thank the goddess... I have the IAAA log that I needed the most, because I gave boy IRCLE... *phew* I don't have all the OTHER email, but I have that.

But hey... it's like my computer is shiny and new!

now i just need to install cRussify and a few other things... MTNewswatcher, ICQ, etc.

w00t!
