oh, yeah...

went pumpkin hunting today with aspy and his little weasel. the little weasel picked up lots of pumpkins, so we told her she could only have as many as she could carry.

i must say--that kid can carry a LOT.

we picked apples, too.

and now i'm off to make apple dumplings, though i might fall asleep first.

yeah, i know--you want the recipe.

So we went and got some freakin' apples at the freakin' apple orchard. Now, with this recipe, do you REMOVE the skin? or leave it on? It doesn't specify, so I assume you leave it on, but it seems like they'd be better without it...

i usually remove the skin. if my hands hurt too much to do that, i ask boy to do it or just forget about it.

the skin separates from the flesh during cooking, anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

btw, if you don't cut the apples all the way through (just pocket the core out), they hold the butter and sugar a little better. you can even put a little water in to help them cook a little more quickly.
