Friday friday friday

I was craving fake potato pancakes, so we bought manischewitz mix this week. Today, boy mixed it up with minced onion and now the house smells of fried fried stuff. Yum.

My parents should be here soon. The house is a mess, but not as much as it was. Timing was bad this week--ran out of sleep meds, pollen season hit hard, and my period decided to show up--exacerbated by anemia. The bathroom is clean, though, and the kitchen is soso. Everytime I hear a car door, I jump up and look out the window. I've made some sweet tea (decaf). Hopefully it's okay for dad--I don't buy instant tea, so he'll have to settle for decaf green tea.

I moved the platform feeder to the kitchen window. Only the chickadee was brave enough to hit the front window location and the squirrels kept decimating the food. Now it's around the side of the house. The chickadee is quite happy with this location, of course, because now he can sit there and grab exactly the seeds he wants, instead of picking and dropping from the cage feeder.

My cardinals are convinced they can land at the perchless (cage cylinder) feeder. I feel sorry for them. Next paycheck, I'm buying a feeder they can use. The old one keeps getting knocked down by the squirrels and it's broken up pretty badly.

I can't find my roundnose wire pliers. I was trying to make some earrings for mom, but I need to turn some rings out of anodized copper and I need my roundnose pliers. The regular wire pliers (not craft) aren't doing the trick.

I get to see my mommy and daddy soon!

Where do you find the fake potatoes?

In the Jewish section or the Passover section of the local supermarkets.

No, that's a real potato. Fake potatoes don't resemble potatoes in the slightest.

Have fun with your 'rents!

I have a question for you re: anodized copper... where in Hades did you get this? Everything I've been able to find on the web (including professional metal finishing sites) states you can't anodize copper since copper oxide doesn't take dye. I've seen silver plated copper that's then enameled and just plain enameled copper.

This could be enameled. This is just copper craft wire.

Okay, that has to be it :) I've been wracking my brain trying to find anodized copper (can't find anodized aluminum in 22 gauge and the 24 gauge is way too soft), since anodized niobium is pricey.

Depending on what you're doing, www.theringlord.com has enameled and silvered enameled copper wire. The silvered is silver plated then enameled so it's a lot brighter. But, it doesn't come in 22 gauge.

I need to get the feeders up for the birds here at the new house. I know we have a towhee that is living in my front bushes eating the sunflower seeds the movers spilled. We also have dark eyed junkos, cardinals and chickadees. I know we have more than that I just haven't seen them all yet.

Have a good time with your parents this weekend. Hope you get better weather than we're supposed to. Looks like the eggs will have to hide inside here. Tatiana's favorite part of spring is getting to find the eggs. She wrote about it for her journal the other day. I think I could hide anything and she'd be happy. Tomorrow we're going to color eggs. That's my favorite part of it. :) Hope your weekend is fun.
