I take lots of pictures. I possess no particular skill, but I enjoy doing it. The pictures help me remember what went on, since my memory is abysmal due to fibro and CFIDS.

I only post links to pictures, for the most part. This helps cut down the amount of bandwidth used and lowers the transfer amount. I don't mind if folks post links to pictures hosted on explodingcat, but do *not* directly yank the image via an img src tag. If you do this, I *will* think quite seriously about replacing the picture with the goatse man. Don't tempt me--I might do it. I might just inflict a picture of a naked mole rat on your friends list/communities. If you do this and try to hide it in a protected post I cannot see, I will be even more tempted. If you do this and don't bother to lj-cut the entry, I will hunt you down and feed you to the goatse man.

Our site generates log files and I know how to read them.

Stealing bandwidth is rude. If you want to post an image I have taken, download the file onto your computer and upload it to your own site. *YOU* can pay for the bandwidth.

links to the images directly shows up the same as posting the image itself, referer is the same. i.e. can't write a script to allow one but not the other.

Hotlinking

I am not sure who your domain host is but I may be able to help you with foiling hotlinkers if you are on a linux/unix box. I set up my .htaccess file to display this image to people who try and hotlink to my photos.
