it's a start

Russian priest defrocked for performing gay marriage ceremony

now, i do hope they have a more developed political platform (they're running for office) than their quote indicates, but hey--the first in-church gay marriage in russia! way to go! they weren't allowed to register the union at the state office and that irks me, since i don't believe the state should use religious guidelines for marriage terms.

i hope Father Vladimir is able to at least spread his message of peace elsewhere.

I have no qualms against religious institutions deciding they don't want to perform certain marriages. so long as the state's not involved, it's all fine by me. i do, however, like to see religious officials embrace diversity, even at risk to their own careers.

*hugs*

What, you mean you wouldn't vote for them just because they're gay, you're a woman, and therefore you idolize them? LOL
