awake

my fever was at 100F yesterday, though i didn't let that stop me from going out.

the kind barista at starbucks let me know that the tazo chai crПme frappucino *DOES* have soy in it, despite what other baristas at other locations have told me. this could explain the eczema, dishidrotic eczema, random hives, and asthma probs I've had all summer. When I sighed (after having started to drink it) and pushed it aside, she made one for me out of cream, milk, ice, and chai. It's not as thick and creamy, but it was a really nice gesture. From now on, I'll just get iced chai (if it's warm) or cocoa (if it's not).

the pain's been getting worse... the doc told me i didn't have to lay low and take it easy, so i've been going out of the house. it was really hard sleeping last night, though. i woke up a lot. so i called the doctor a few minutes ago (just woke up). i left a message with the receptionist, so i should get a call back. my temp this morning is 99F. my normal temp is around 97.

went to the station with [livejournal.com profile] xiane and [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth last night. ended up coming home around 4am.

Good for you for not letting the pain and fever stop you. And congratulations on finding a caring individual in a chain coffee shop! There is a Starbucks down the road from my new work, and I have to confess that I've patronized it. I always did prefer Caribou, though. Do they have those out there?

We live too far south for caribou. ;)

I do have a caribou-crossing sign keychain, though. I bought it in Sweden.

Starbucks uses real whipping cream, rather than cheap whipped dairy topping, which is one reason they get my patronage. I rarely drink coffee, anyhow. They have nice hot chocolate, though, and are always pleasant to me.

Even I live too far south for real caribou. And I don't ever get whipped cream on anything, so I wouldn't notice the difference.

In the coffee shop on the ground floor of my apartment building, there works a strange woman who takes serious offense if I decline the whipped cream with my mocha. I've seen her eyes well up with tears.

For her, I get the whipped cream. Then I scoop it out when she's not looking.
