(no subject)

so... here's the scoop, poop, why we have no stove for our soup:

it arrived damaged. big ol' scratch and the door would not close. they offered to sell it to our landlord at a reduced rate, but the *door* would not *close*. uh, no thanks.

then they said they might not be able to deliver a new one before Friday. they still took the old one away. HELLO, we have no STOVE. my landlord is *certainly* paying enough for one to arrive when he was told it would arrive. Home Despot dot Com is never going to get any of my business if I don't have a stove BEFORE Friday. I can't even make that pasta sauce because I have nowhere to boil my pasta.

I told Tom that the delivery company better be willing to pay for a week's worth of pizza, because I refuse to starve.

*grumble*

I might be less grumpy if I didn't have worsening earaches, a sore throat, and a nasty cough with green goo draining out of my head, but I doubt it.

I'd offer the use of our stove, however...

you'd have to deal with the smell of wonderful latex paint being applied messily in the living room (which, if I remember correctly, you are allergic too?). So that would probably be out.

There's also the lack of cooking utensils which would probably hinder your cooking as well (well, there are pots and pans, and a few big spoons, but there's no counter space since we haven't put anything away yet). Heck, we haven't even finished moving all the stuff yet.

Oh, well.

Foo.

there's actually no natural latex rubber in latex paint. latex is a generic description of a certain type of polymer-ish molecule.

however...

the paint still makes me sick. ;) the VOCs alone do me in.

are you in town today? you do realize you're always welcome to come over and borrow our network if you need to check email, etc. :) or if you just need a break. the house is non-smelly, but a mess, and i'm not the greatest company right now, but i'm not contagious.

we have one open port on the router, but i'm not sure we have a cable for it--you might need to bring one. we have two cords in the family room, but only one is in use during the day, unless tom decides to do online reading on his mac from the comfort of the couch.

What a load of crap. If the stove was damaged, the least they could have done was leave the old one. Grrrrrr.

Or even leaving the new one for the rest of the week. Then you'd be able to use the stovetop even if the oven was unusable. Leaving you with nothing is just plain shitty.

I'll all revved up pissy for you now. Grrrrrrrr.

my landlord actually turned off the gas and removed the old stove *yesterday* afternoon. so it sat outside in the rain all night. and it's very large and heavy. would've been a pain to get back inside--not something i'm capable of doing.

at the very least, we had a contractor in yesterday evening who installed valves so that we at least have hot water for now. and, if necessary, heat.

We have two stoves here, if you need 'em. The one in the big kitchen works better, the one in my apt is in a cleaner space. Whichever works for ya! :)

That completely sucks. I'd be seriously looking at one of these. And I'd make the landlord pay for it.

Eeuughh . . . that does suck :/

I'd send 'em a bill for a week of restaurant meals, honestly! Sheesh . . . what do they expect you to be doing in the meanwhile??

Well, we do have a toaster oven, crockpot, microwave, and foreman grill. But I can't *boil* pasta, nor can I braise kale...

We've managed okay so far. But I'm getting very antsy. I don't want to have to go over to a friend's every time I want pasta.
