hey, queensheba, do you know a local (to me) beagle rescue?

the local SPCA has a purebred two year old... and this week, they put a picture of an ADORABLE bassett hound mix up. i want a doggie so badly. maybe i should trade explodingcat in for a floppy-eared model.

nah, i like him too much.

If you find a dog that's not in your immediate area but it's a great match for you, sometimes a transport can be arranged throughout different areas. Good luck! Please let me know if you have any hound-dog related questions. Fwiw, both Gordon and Georgia were/are beagle-basset mixes, and I like their traits better than that of either breed on its own.

There's one in Rappahannock. That's where my neighbor adopted her beagle from; she actually drove down to pick him up.

Often the Tidewater and Central Virginia rescues bring the dogs up to northern Virginia on weekends because I suppose the chances are greater of an animal being adopted up here.
