currently eating some israeli couscous, boiled in veg broth with minced onion, basil, and garlic... then i stirred in some romano, a small ball of marinated mozzarella, and some heavy cream... just enough to make stuff gooey. salt + pepper. yum.

for supper tonight...
i boiled up a fennel bulb, drained it and baked it in a cream-cheese sauce with caraway seeds and breadcrumbs on top.
and i made a stew from The Single Vegan: rutabaga, carrot, onion, brussel sprouts, tomato paste, marjoram, bay leaf, salt/pepper. i skipped the mushrooms and soy sauce, used a bit of marmite. yummy.

boy liked the brussel sprouts. his first time actually eating one. ;) he'd always refused based on the smell. i suggested he eat the blossom/head, not the end closest to the stem. and the strong flavor of the tomato and rutabaga helped cover up the bitterness.

My sister is vegan and I should tell her the things you eat. She'd love it.

She won't do cheese though, so the cream cheese is right out. She's 43 and has not touched meat since she was 5 years old.

mmmmm... more food p0rn

I bet, since [livejournal.com profile] klwalton managed to get me to eat tomatoes in her gazpacho, the preparation you describe might actually get me to eat brussel sprouts...
