(no subject)

power company truck rolled through around 9am. i let the truck through the gate into the cow pasture. by 9:45, we had electric again and i let the truck out.

then i went inside and revelled in the fact that the AC was working and i could sit back and relax.

but we have no water.

the pump won't run.

eeeep.

called over to the big house, the house-sitter is sick and asked us to drive over and talk to the farm foreman. so we did. turns out the main farm (tenant homes, troughs, etc) has no water, either... but they think their pole was struck by lightning or something. they have a different well (a mile away).

we told J, the housesitter, that our water pressure's on the fritz. she looked sad. she's sick and apparently, they've been worried about our well. oooh, boy.

the electrician who's coming to the main farm is being sent over here. i hope it's a pump issue and not a low water level issue.

*sigh*

Heh, you said "the big house." Of course, it is Cville.

So do you live in the slave quarters? ;)

dear turdmonster-ette. you know as well as i do that quarters for the "help" don't last a couple hundred years, unlike large mansions built of brick.

we live in a small cottage formerly owned by a widow. at some point, her home burned down and this was built in it's place. she couldn't afford to rebuild the same size home, so we have a cozy little cottage with the original house's footprint surrounding us 10-30 feet on all sides.

i assume her land was acquired by the larger farm at some point in the last century.
