bakasana, my butt.

So . . . I've been reading a book on the Bradley method. It appeals to my sensibilities. And I was just trying out some of the exercises mentioned. One of them is a squat. As I'm doing the squat, boy goes into the crane pose and informs me that this is the proper birthing position.

You know, he was pretty obnoxious before, constantly going into this pose just to prove that he can do it. Now he just looks at me, grins, and squats down and pushes himself up and tells me I must practice with him.

I don't think so.

I think if you gave birth in the crane post the kid would shoot out across the room!

I think that is an opportune time to play the "push you down" game.

what exactly is "toning an abdominal organ" ??

Which book are you reading? I've been doing a lot of exercises, too. Be careful not to push yourself too hard. After I racheted up my sets I think it caused me to bleed a bit- I called the doc and she said that might have done it, so I shouldn't be too gung-ho...Anyway, nice to see my thighs getting toned again ;)

I've not had any bleeding. The only exercises in this book are tailor position (no problem for hypermobile ol' me), squatting (not squats, just sitting in a squat), pelvic rocking, and something else. They're not really exercises, per se, just flexibility/stretching stuff.

I go to water exercise class twice a week. Prior to the second trimester, I was exercising a lot--hiking, biking, etc. Asthma hit and stopped that, but I haven't had any problems otherwise. Now that I can be active again, I am.

I think it's McCutcheon's edition. yep (http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Childbirth-Bradley-Way-Revised/dp/0452276594)

hey I have been looking into that, which book do you have. I can't find an instructor around this area, sad really

I'm surprised Richmond doesn't have an instructor. C'ville doesn't have one, either, though I think there *is* a Birthing from Within class.

The book I have is linked to in the earlier comments above.

I'm not even sure how the kid would come out in the pose.

Probably at a high rate of speed.
